Blockages in Naucalpan cause traffic chaos

Traffic on the Periférico Ring has been congested for more than four hours due to a blockade by residents of Naucalpan. This situation has caused disruptions on other roads in Polanco and nearby areas of the Miguel Hidalgo alcaldía. The protests began around 5:00 PM on Monday, January 20, in the 'El Toreo' area in Naucalpan, a crucial area for the mobility of thousands of cars in San Joaquín and Periférico.

After several hours of blockage, the traffic extended to other parts of Mexico City, leading the Traffic Guidance Center of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) to advise drivers to take precautions, as the blockages affect both private vehicles and public transport.

According to the Traffic Guidance Center, the streets most affected by traffic this Monday are: Periférico Ring from Luis Cabrera heading north, Periférico Ring on the second floor from Rómulo O'Farril, Reforma west from Circuito Interior, Viaducto from Tlalpan to the west in Polanco, and Cervantes Saavedra, Homero, Horacio, Ejército Nacional, and Masaryk towards Periférico.

The main demand of the residents of Naucalpan is the lack of water. From their signs, they are demanding the authorities resolve the supply problem they are facing in their neighborhoods. It is currently unknown if there has been dialogue with them to reach an agreement and unblock the traffic on the Periférico. Citizen reports indicate they have been without water service for weeks, which led them to protest, even generating complaints and shouts between drivers and protesters.
